Earth Dome (Earth Balloon)
Geography and Earth Science Assembly Program | Grades: K-8

EarthDome

The Earth Dome is a gigantic inflatable earth balloon standing 19-feet high and 22-feet in diameter. It's made of 24 huge panels silkscreened with photographs shot from satellites of the surface of the world on cloud free days. It has been used extensively across the United States to educate students about geography as well as environmental issues.

Canyon Ranch Elementary PTO hosted this event for 3rd and 4th Graders on
December 3, 2025

Thank you Basudhara, PTO Enrichment Coordinator for organizing this event!

One of the highlights of the Earth Dome assembly is the focus on geography and landforms. As you explore the dome, you’ll learn about the different physical features of Earth, such as mountains, rivers, and deserts. The presenter will explain how these landforms were created over millions of years by natural forces like wind, water, and shifting tectonic plates.
